Project Name: Antrim Forum Leisure Centre

Antrim Forum Leisure Centre is owned by Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council

Project Background – What the Client required?

The Leisure Centre needed to replace old gas boilers and upgrade the existing plant room to accommodate 4 new ATAG Gas fired condensing boilers.

It was important that the system could be put in place quickly and safely, to avoid any potential disruptions to the operation of the leisure centre and reduce any potential health and safety risks to visitors to their site whilst this project took place. This site was particularly challenging as it required 5 shutdowns to connect the new services due to continuous operation of the site. The shutdowns were planned well in advance with the engineers & client.

The majority of the pipe work was prefabricated off site to reduce downtime.

Our company was contracted to carry out a complete heating system upgrade consisting of the following system elements:

  • 4 no Atag XL-F210W gas fired condensing boilers in cascade
  • Plate Heat Exchanger
  • Magnetic Filter
  • Welded Pipework
  • Pressurisation Unit & Expansion Vessel
  • New flue system
  • Heat meters fitted to all circuits for energy monitoring
  • New combustion air ventilation
  • BMS Control Panel modifications
  • System Flushed & corrosion inhibitor added
  • Associated Electrical works
  • Associated Builders works
