McGrane Nurseries are one of Ireland’s leading producers of bedding plants, pot plants, summer perennials, fruit & veg, and herbs. Based in Laurelvale, Co. Armagh, McGrane Nurseries Ltd is a family run business with over 20 years’

experience of growing and supplying Garden Centres and other trade/retail outlets. Based on a 30-acre site, with 10 acres under glass protection, the company has an extensive product range and currently produce more than 8 million plants per annum. Quality has been the key focus of the business from the outset and in 2010 they achieved the British Ornamental Plant Producers [BOPP] Bronze Status, whilst in 2018 the company were accredited the Bord Bia Quality Assurance status.

Project Background – What the Client required?

McGrane Nurseries’ key objection was to reduce their annual £££ heating bill costs whilst also reducing their reliance on fossil fuels.

They also wanted to upgrade and expand their current heating system in order to heat the existing glasshouses that previously had no heating as this would optimise their business’s annual production yield and in turn improve the company’s green credentials.
